This incredible wood carving created by Krista Salik hangs in my house in a place that I see every morning when I wake up. It reminds me to be brave. I believe being brave, or having courage, is the catalyst that propels a great idea into an accomplishment.

Even the best plans are only just plans until you have the courage to execute them - and face the consequences of:

a) possible failure or

b) insurmountable success.

Both can change your life. The only thing you can do to make the impact feel more normal is to keep putting in the hours. If you only fail or succeed at something once - its seems more impactful and you will most likely have a skewed perspective of the end result.

10,000 Hours

The only remedy, I'm afraid is the 10,000 hours rule and of course being brave - brave enough to make mistakes and roll in them. The beauty of the creative mind is that it is so elastic, so crazy, it is what Daniel Pink says will drive our evolution as a human race:

So today I celebrate all of those people in my life who are brave enough to ask the weird question, to try to do something in a new way, with complete disregard for how it has always been done. I raise a glass to those who continue the pursuit to evolve. Pick up a brush, a crayon, a chisel, a pen and be brave. . .
